Wedding Place Staff Returns From Bridal Seminar

From The Wedding Place

The Wedding Place staff is committed to keeping current on wedding industry education as well as bridal trend. Dawn Quick, owner of The Wedding Place, and her manager, Tesia Lapp attended a Wedding Professional Seminar at Amelishan Bridal in Huburtus, Wisconsin on November 8 & 9th. The seminar was conducted by Steve Lang, CEO of Mon Cheri’ Bridal.

The Sunday topics included identifying the needs of the bridal customer and how to fill them. Steve Lang also talked on being a Wedding Professional. On Monday, Martin Thornburg, designer for Mon Cheri, discussed fabric quality, laces, beading, as well as design of gowns and time frame from paper to completion. The Wedding Place staff also saw photos of the factories in China and an overview of how bridal gowns are designed, created and embellished. As buyers, sellers and consumers the information presented to them as shop owners and employees will make them more knowledgeable as they purchase stock for their stores and boutiques. Those in attendance were invited to discuss alteration problems that could be addressed in the design stages as well as in the field.

The concept of this kind of seminar was initiated by Midwest Bridal Buyers Association three years ago. Each year the topic is different and attracts many shop owners and seamstresses from across the Midwest. This years seminar was the best attended because of the opportunity to discuss design and weddings with a major company’s owner and one if its designers.

The seminar was attended by 13 stores and 80 individuals; owners, employees and seamstresses. All the attending stores are members of Midwest Bridal Buyers Association, Bridal Industry Professionals. Attendees were from Iowa, Minnesota, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Nebraska.

The Midwest Bridal Buyers Association was established 27 years ago. Dawn Quick of The Wedding Place in Fort Wayne, IN serves as the current president of this professional wedding organization.
